Truth Is A River
Writing Lab by Birds Without Gender
22.11.2025, 14:00 – 18:00
Truth Is A River aims to explore and bring to light the diversity, the nuances and the incompleteness of truth, and challenge a world in which the search for absolute truths creates suffering and jeopardises connection and peace on personal and interpersonal levels, but also on a larger scale within communities locally and globally.
Birds Without Gender is inviting writers, artists, and everyone else who wants to explore truth (as a story, as trauma, as hope, as pleasure, as a river...) to participate in a three hour writing and reading experience, followed by an open presentation and public reading.
14:00 – 17:00: Writing Lab (only lab participants)
17:00 – 18:00: Drinks & Snacks (open to all)
18:00 – 19:00: Public Reading (open to all)
During the Writing Lab (14:00–17:00) you can expect to:
- participate in short sensory exercises, write and share your experience
- participate in conversations inspired by texts that attempt to navigate the complex nature of truth (read by Birds / written by Birds and other contemporary writers)
- participate in short writing sessions and share the writings with the group
- prepare a public presentation for later in the evening (decide who wants to share, decide which texts to read, and who will read them, etc).
Participants should bring along:
- their preferred writing tools (laptop or/and notebook, pen/pencil etc)
- if they have, texts that navigate the subject of the complexity of truth that they would like to share with the group.
Open Presentation / Public Reading (18:00–19:00)
Audience is invited to join for this part of the day. This will be an open event where Writing Lab participants present and read texts created during the session.
