Piet Zwart Institute MFA students at Rib
Research Practices Seminar by Cannach MacBride

In early June Rib hosted Piet Zwart Institute’s first year MFA students. Prior to gathering at Rib, they had been meeting monthly to talk, listen, read, write, eat, make, and learn with one another for a Research Practices Seminar called Proseminar: Researching and writing from the middle of somewhere.

At Rib they shared meals, did daily vocal improvisation sessions, visited people and spaces in the neighbourhood, and used the Rib library as a divination tool for artistic and life questions. At the end of the week they processed and edited their reflections and responses to this shared time and inquiry via a mixing workshop and photoshoot.
